Chinatown

 

Chinatown's maze of narrow roads includes Chinatown Food Street, with its restaurants serving traditional fare like Hainanese chicken rice, noodles and satay. Souvenir shops and indie boutiques dot the area, offering clothes, crafts and antiques, while Club Street is full of trendy wine bars. Cultural institutions here include the 1827 Sri Mariamman Temple and the ornate Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum.

Foods are offered at the cheapest prices: Food prices at Chinatown Complex Hawker Centre are very reasonable and competitive because there are many stalls selling similar foods.

Walking is the best way to explore Chinatown. Do remember to bring enough water and travel light.

Merlion Park

 

Merlion Park is a Singapore landmark and major tourist attraction, located near One Fullerton, Singapore, near the Central Business District (CBD). The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish that is widely used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Two Merlion statues are located at the park. The original Merlion structure measures 8.6 meters tall and spouts water from its mouth. It has subsequently been joined by a Merlion cub, which is located near the original statue and measures just 2 metres tall.

To reach Merlion Park, you could take a 30 minutes slow walk from Wink Hostel, or take a 2 minutes train ride from Chinatown station to Downtown station.

Marina Bay Sands

 

Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay in Singapore. At its opening in 2010, it was billed as the world's most expensive standalone casino property.

The resort, designed by Moshe Safdie, includes a hotel, a convention-exhibition center, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, two large theaters, "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, art-science exhibits, and the world's largest atrium casino. The complex is topped by SkyPark with a 150 m (490 ft) infinity swimming pool, set on top of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by 67 m (220 ft).

To reach Marina Bay Sands, you could take a 40 minutes slow walk from Wink Hostel, or take a 3 minutes train ride from Chinatown station to Bay Front station.

Sentosa

 

Sentosa is an island resort off Singapore’s southern coast, connected to the city by road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk and monorail. By Sentosa Station, Tiger Sky Tower has panoramic views that can stretch as far as Indonesia. On the south coast, Palawan Beach is lined with food stalls and bars, and has a suspension bridge to a small offshore island. Palm-lined, crescent-shaped Tanjong Beach is more tranquil.

You definitely would not want to miss Resorts World Sentosa, featuring the theme park Universal Studios Singapore and one of Singapore's two casinos.

To reach Sentosa, you could take a 15 minutes taxi ride from Wink Hostel, or take a 8 minutes train ride from Chinatown station to Harbour Front station, then you can choose to walk or take the sky train to enter the island.

Gardens By The Bay

 

Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden.

The conservatory complex at Gardens by the Bay comprises two cooled conservatories – the Flower Dome (Chinese: 花穹) and the Cloud Forest (Chinese: 云雾林), situated along the edge of Marina Reservoir. The conservatories are intended to be an energy efficient showcase of sustainable building technologies and to provide an all-weather edutainment space within the Gardens. Both are very large and the Flower Dome is the world's largest column-less glasshouse

There is also free light show twice every evening (7:45pm & 8:45pm) at Garden Rapsody.
