Getting To/From Chinatown

Airport to Wink @ Chinatown by City Shuttle.


1. The airport city shuttle brings you to Wink's doorstep.
2. The bus departs from the airport every 15 minutes during peak hours and up to 30 minutes during non-peak hours. It runs 24 x 7. round the clock. 3. Tickets cost $9 per adult and $6 per child below 12 years old. 4. You can buy the ticket from the ticketing machine at the Arrival Hall. 5. Just tell the driver you are going to Wink Hostel at Chinatown ( 8A, Mosque Street)




Wink @ Chinatown to airport by City Shuttle.


1. There is airport transfer from Wink @ Chinatown back to the airport departure halls. The shuttle will pick you up from Wink directly.
2. For booking, please approach our front desk at least 12 hours prior to departure.
3. To aid in your travel planning, please allow plus minus 1 hour door-to-door.

Airport to Wink @ Chinatown by MRT.


1. Board the train towards Tanah Merah and alight at Expo Station (2 stops later).
2. Walk to the Downtown Line (Blue color). Do not exit the station yet.
3. Board the train towards Bukit Panjang and alight at Chinatown Station (17 stops later).
4. Take Exit A (on Pagoda Street) and walk to Wink Hostel located (on Mosque Street), which is only 3 minutes away. You may refer to this link for more details.




Wink @ Chinatown to airport by MRT.


1. Board the train at Chinatown Station (DT19) towards Expo and alight at Expo Station (17 stops later).
2. Walk to the East West Line (Green color). Do not exit the station yet. 3. Board the train towards Changi Airport and alight at Changi Airport Station (2 stops later).




Airport to Wink @ Chinatown by taxi.


1. You can take a taxi directly from the taxi stand. The taxi fare is around SGD25 to SGD30 to Wink @ Chinatown. The journey normally take about 20 minutes.
2. Just inform the driver you are going to Wink Hostel, 8A Mosque Street, Chinatown.
3. A taxi can normally seats 4 passenger with luggage. Taxis are going by the meter. Tipping is typically not required.




Airport to Wink @ Chinatown by private chauffeur.


1. Yes you can, and it is really popular here. GRAB is the UBER-equivalent in Singapore. It is very popular and widely used to hail both private car or conventional taxi.
2. Just to take note if you book a private car, the chauffeur will pick you up from the passenger arrival pickup point, but not from the public taxi queue.
3. Do communicate with the chauffeur your arrival door number.
4. Download the GRAB app in your phone and get a discounted ride!





Reservation Matters

Can I check-in early (before 3pm)?


1. The reception counter opens 7am to 11pm daily.

2. The check-in starts at 3pm daily so that our housekeepers have enough time to turn over the beds and clean up the rooms.

3. Any check-in before 11am would incur an additional 50% of the prevailing rate.

4. We can let you check-in to your bed early (not earlier than 12pm) should your bed is ready much earlier. However, this request is subject to current availability.

5. Nonetheless, you are welcomed to complete your check-in procedure first (should you arrive early) and you can leave your luggage with us and come back again afterwards.




Can I check-in late (after 11pm)?


Yes you can. If you have already booked a stay with us and are checking in late (i.e. after 11pm), we will automatically set you up for self late check-in process.




Can I check-out early (before 7am)?


Yes you can. Just drop your key/keycard near the main exit/frontdesk before you leave. If you place your security deposit by cash, we will refund you via PayPal; if you place your security deposit by credit card authorization, we will void the amount captured. In case you do not hear back from us, do drop us an email at chinatown@winkhostel.com or downtown@winkhostel.com regarding your early departure.




Can I check-out late (after 11am)?


Our check-out time is 11am so to give us ample time to clean up the room for our next staying guest. However, we charge a 50% of the prevailing rate should you need to extend your stay until 3pm, and 100% for stay up to 6pm. Yet again, this is provided your bed is not booked by any other guest.





Accomodation Matters

Can I leave my luggage with you?


We provide complementary luggage storage for the duration you are staying with us Hence, on your check-in day, you can come to drop your luggage and complete your check-in process first in the morning, and come back later for the room/bed. Similarly, on your check-out day, you can leave your luggage with us and head out, and come back later to claim your luggage. Do note that: a. Luggage storage is a complementary service, and we cannot be responsible for any damage or lost during our custody. Hence we advice not to leave anything valuable behind. b. Our operating hours are from 7am to 11pm. Hence please do come back a bit early to claim your luggage. 8pm will be a good time. Any unclaimed luggage is subjected to S$8/pcs/night if it is to be left overnight.




Can I keep my luggage before check-in and after check-out?


Yes, you can keep your luggage with us before check-in and after check-out (same day only) as a complementary service. Thereafter, should you need to extend your luggage storage, it will be chargeable at SG$8/bag for every 24 hour. You may order the luggage storage service thought Wink Online Store . This rate also apply to non-staying guest whom wish to drop your luggage with us temporary while touring around town.
However we shall not be responsible for any damage or loss caused.




Does Wink provide toiletries and such?


We provide essential toiletries such as toilet roll, hand towel, shower shampoo, hair dryers to name a few.
We also provide bath towel (unless otherwise specified in the booking detail). Steam iron is also available upon request. A small token is required for the use of washing and dryer machines to cover the high cost of utility bill.




What is the pod's personal locker dimension?


The lugagge storage compartment size varies. On average, these are the locker sizes: Wink @ Chinatown : 50cm x 50 cm x 100cm (height x width x depth); Wink @ Downtown : 30cm x 50 cm x 75cm (height x width x depth)




What type of socket and voltage do you use?


Our power socket is the British BS1363 three-pronged square pin type socket a.k.a Plug type G. Plugs from the US, Western and Eastern Europe normally will not fit. The standard voltage in Singapore is 220V/240V, 50 Hz. If you have equipment that runs on a higher voltage, you should also not connect it to the power socket. Nonetheless, you can loan from us the universal power plug adaptors that work for most electronic devices. Please return to us before your check out, or you can keep it for a small fee of SGD3.




How many luggage can I bring?


Each paying guest is entitled to a maximum of 3 pieces of luggage for check-in. The total luggage size for each guest should not exceed 50cm x 50 cm x 100cm (height x width x depth). Any excess in number of luggage would be charged at S$8/piece.




Can I bring food or drinks into my room?


Food and drinks are strictly not allowed in the room due to hygiene purpose, even if you are staying in the private rooms. We reserve the rights to compound or evict the guest from the hostel (and no refund to be returned) should the guest refuse to abide to this strict ruling.




Can I smoke in the hostel?


Wink @ Chinatown & Wink @ Downtown are both strictly non-smoking premises. Smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the hostel premise, including the balcony and windows area. We reserves the rights to compound or evict the guest from the hostel (and no refund to be returned) should the guest refuse to abide to this strict ruling. For smokers, you can smoke at the street level (outside of the hostel premise at street level).




Can I bring along and charge my electric scooter or e-bike?


Except travelling luggage, other bulky items such electric scooters or e-bike are strictly not allowed due to space contraints and safety concerns (i.e voltage irrregularities that could cause possible fire hazards).




Do you have laundry service?


Yes we do have washing machine and drying machine at Wink @ Chinatown. These are self-service machines operated by coins. There is no washing or drying machine at Wink @ Downtown. However, we do provide assisted laundry service for the convenience of our guest. Do check with our frontdesk for the details. Steam iron is available on request on both Chinatown & Downtown outlets.




What kind of facilities are available in the kitchen?


We have a communal fridge, microwave (to be added @ Downtown), hot water dispenser, cutleries, glasses, etc.

What is Wink @ Chinatown Operating Hours?


We open from 7am to 11pm daily. We provide self check-in service if you are arriving after 11pm.




Do you sell prepaid SIM card?


Yes, we do sell prepaid SIM card over at Wink @ Chinatonwn's front desk. The SIM card is specially catered to travelers' need (i.e. for short term use, with a lot of data or call time, etc).




Do you sell attraction tickets?


Yes, we do sell attraction tickets at our hostel front desk or Wink Online Store. We have tickets to all major attractions in Singapore. The benefit of getting the ticket from us is that it is usually cheaper than you buy over-the-counter.




Do you have any daily activities?


We work with partners to provide half-day free walking tours to historical attractions such as Kampong Glam, Chinatown and Little India. As it is a free tour, hence it will be first-come-first-serve basis and no booking is required. Do approach our frontdesk for more details.




Is this a shoe-free hostel?


Yes we are shoe-free hostel. Each guest is allocated a shoebox at te lobby area. You can take off your shoe and deposit it in the shoebox before entering your room. We also provide complementary disposable slipper for you to change into.




Is this a smoke-free hostel?


Yes we are smoke-free hostel. Smoking is strictly-prohibited within the hostel premise. Guest can go down to the street level to smoke whenever they need to.

Airport to Wink @ Downtown by City Shuttle.

Airport to Wink @ Downtown by MRT


1. Board the train towards Tanah Merah and alight at Expo Station (2 stops later).
2. Walk to the Downtown Line (Blue color). Do not exit the station yet.
3. Board the train towards Bukit Panjang and alight at Telok Ayer Station (16 stops later).
4. Take Exit A and walk in the traffic direction of Telok Ayer Street for about 300m. Turn left into McCallum Street and walk for about 30m. We are just above the 7-ELEVEN. The entrance is nearer to a bar next to 7-ELEVEN.




Airport to Wink @ Downtown by taxi.


1. You can take a taxi directly from the taxi stand. The taxi fare is around SGD25 to SGD30 to Wink @ Downtownl. The journey normally take about 20 minutes.

Getting Around

Going to Marina Bay Sands by MRT.


If you are staying at Wink @ Chinatown, the nearest train station is Chinatown Station (DT19); If you are staying at Wink @ Downtown, the nearest train station is Telok Ayer Station (DT18). From either station, you can take a 4 to 5 minute train ride to Bayfront Station (DT16) which is walking distance to the Marina Bay Sands, and also Gardens By The Bay.




Going to Harbour Front by MRT.


If you are staying at Wink @ Chinatown, the nearest train station is Chinatown Station (DT19/NE4). From the same Chinatown Station (NE4), you can take a 10 minute train ride to HarbourFront Station (NEW1) which is just beneath Vivo City, the gateway to enter Sentosa island and also the Universal Studio. If you are staying at Wink @ Downtown, the nearest train station is Telok Ayer Station (DT18). You need to travel to Chinatown Station (which is just 1 stop away), and change to another train (as above-mentioned) to HarbourFront Station.




Going to Universal Studio and Mount Faber by MRT.


If you are staying at Wink @ Chinatown, the nearest train station is Chinatown Station (DT19/NE4). From the same Chinatown Station (NE4), you can take a 10 minute train ride to HarbourFront Station (NEW1) which is beneath Vivo City, the gateway to enter Sentosa island and also the Universal Studio. Mount Faber is just a walk across the street outside Vivo City. If you are staying at Wink @ Downtown, the nearest train station is Telok Ayer Station (DT18). You need to travel to Chinatown Station (which is just 1 stop away), and change to another train (as above-mentioned) to HarbourFront Station.




Is there a free shuttle service to Sentosa?


There could be free service previously, but as of today there is no free shuttle service to bring you into Sentosa Island. Instead, we would advise that to take the MRT to Sentosa. The Harbourfront station is just 2 stops away from Chinatown MRT station (DT19/NE4). Then from Harbourfront station you can transfer to the Sentosa Express at Vivocity for $4, or walk over via the Broadwalk at $1.




Is there parking available and how much for one night parking?


There are various parking options in the vicinity, but street parking would work based on a coupon parking system, at: SGD1.20/30mins from 8.30AM to 5.00PM, for Monday to Saturday, SGD0.60/30mins from 5.00PM to 10.00PM for Monday to Saturday, SGD0.60/30mins from 8.30AM to 10.00PM, on Sundays and public holidays Street parking is free from 10.00PM to 8.30AM the next day. Underground parking at the various office buildings in the vicinity is also an option, as they are open for public use. These parking rates are dependent on the offices.
